I'm not against the idea, but it's just one of many "nice" things UA could do for its customers at a low cost.
It's also not one of those things that I really just need UA to do... with the new Biz seats, there's not such a huge difference (to me) between F and C any more.
And on this one, I think, "why only GS?" (In theory) GS pax already buy the premium fares... why not use it as a carrot for 1Ks to purchase those Z fares... If UA were going to offer it, I'd say offer it to 1K and GS both.

I've had the same experience (though admittedly with a low sample size) on Z-fare op-ups to F on intl 3-cabin flights.
