Can we stand-by for DEN-ATL-MCO? Is there a fee? We are both NW Plats.

FWIW, UA specifically allows stand-by on alternate routings, so long as you can find an agent willing to do the work.
As long as they're operated by the same carrier (they're still separate) as the original routing their shouldn't be any issue.

That said, a few weeks ago I had a 012 (NW) ticket number flying DL metal, and did SDC to NW metal through different routing. It had to be done at the ticket counter with some form of a manual over-ride (actual flight coupons got printed too); but the supervisor at the counter indicated what I wanted to do was a legal change ... even though when I called SMS/PSS they indicated it couldn't be done and wouldn't do it ... they apparently stuck a note in my account indicating this too.

FWIW I'm DL GM ... for another week.
