I don't know what "just after New Years" means, but Jet is Rs 6600 on Jan 3, AI Rs 5500 on Jan 4 and 5. Many others around 6K-7K. See cleartrip.com and ixigo.com. Most travel agencies including ClearTrip add a service fee in the quote, but Ixigo doesn't as it links you to the airline website.
Also try ezeego1.com and yatra.com - as they sometimes have promotions on flights - got some savings on a IT booking once recently when booking on yatra.com.
