I called the Redemption Desk to check availabilty for a beach property in Florida. The two sets of dates I am interested in are both available. I need a little time to decide which dates I prefer so I asked if I could hold both sets of dates. The agent said that she could hold both but that it's not prefered because it will tie up a room that will be unavailable to another caller until I cancel the dates that are not needed. I wouldn't want that done to me so I booked just one set of dates. Maybe that's why Redemption reservations are not supposed to be booked online. If rooms were available to be booked online I would have booked both sets of dates and a third one that I was mildly considering without a second thought and cancelled the ones I didn't need later. All the while making the rooms unavailable to other HH members wanting to use rewards. Maybe there is a good reason behind Hilton's decision not to offer online bookings with rewards considering it is a limited inventory and most reservations can be cancelled up to the day of arrival. I just thought maybe both sides should be considered here.
