This is getting to be waaay more information than I needed, so back to the original question.

I'm not traveling on business now, but for years it was every week. Usually I was in the same four hotels over and over. Before I got status I came to hate even opening another menu seated by myself. It became worth keeping status just for the concierge lounges. Whatever they served I was grateful for, just so I didn't have to think. It was usually good. I got to be friends with several staffers, and especially some club staff. I looked forward to seeing them. I'd even like to do a week or so now and then.

If I was still traveling very often, I'd never let a hotel status lapse over five nights. Not even my number two chain. Even with the current Hyatt.com IT frustrations several others have also experienced and noted on the board, my remaining stays, usually one night at a time, are Hyatt's to lose.

Not to mention Mrs. Jayer, my certified travel planner, has decided Hyatt Diamond is worth it. I let it lapse in 2007 in favor of another chain and she notified me I should not repeat such behavior.
