I just don't understand the no upgrades thing!

UA makes some very convoluted decisions sometimes. Either this is a United flight or it's not. Similarly to the thousands of people who get trapped by the different MP earning for codeshare vs metal flights, this is one of those *dumb* moves that will not engender positive response from their customers.

I'm all for UA flights to Madrid (seriously, my company has offices there), but non-upgradeable ones are useless to me.
