My girlfriend has to be in Tampa on Wednesday early morning, so we decided to drive up tomorrow and stay overnight. I looked at some Hilton possibilites, and to my surprise many are not available. Finally found Hampton Inn Westshore. For some reason I was not signed in to my account and the best rate was Hit the Road rate of $85. I called my gf at work and asked if it was ok with her, got back to Hilton.com, signed in, and did the same search. It came back with the best rate of $119. Just out of curiosity, I signed out and looked again. HTR rate available for $85. Did the res, had to put everything manually, but for a difference of $34 I had no problem doing it.

What's with that HiltonHonors? Non-members get a better rate? or am I missing something? Do I get points and stay credit on the HTR rate?
