I agree with all the others, there is not a chance they would credit you any status miles, they simply never do. If you ask them for 10,000 status miles (or leave them to choose the appropriate compensation), they will credit your account with 10,000 award miles and it will be the end of it. If you want cash rather than miles, you'd be massively better off stating this right away when you write to them.
