I wanted to be excited about this last year, but I'd just rather make the drive myself from LA. By the time I drive to LAX, park, go through all of the TSA's bullcrap, I could have comfortably driven myself there. I drive about 10 times from LA to Mammoth each winter and it's not bad. If they could get rid of the TSA somehow, it might make it worth it (like Era does with their short flights out of ANC).
I'm sure Mammoth Mountain is contractually subsidizing these flights again this year (they did this last year but due to their popularity they didn't need to fork out any cash to AS to cover a shortfall).

My uncle lives in Irvine and last year I did the flight from MMH to LAX and drove back to Irvine...from check-in in MMH to my uncle's place it took under 3 hours....still beats the 6 hour drive. TSA at LAX T3 isn't that bad generally. I've had to fly the FLG/PRC trips about twice a month and it took me about 15 minutes to get through security nearly every time (just have to avoid that Mexico bank in the early evening).
