Go with AC because you will get FASTER GOLD status and that will make flying better. AC has one of the BEST Gold programs in Star, and that will be more important than your free ticket to Asia.
Award tickets are always hard to get, but AC award to Asia is less points that UA.
Dont worry buy your ticket to Asia its often $600 from JFK.
