Thanks, I'm assuming this will all work out. I posted here, not to beat the system. I'd rest easier knowing everything will work out to how it was supposed to, not that I beat the system.
I did go ahead and email customer relations explaining the mistake happening with the cancellation which forced us to pay a $30 airport ticketing fee. I asked kindly if they'd review the incident and rectify it appropriately.
I'm sure the system would never refund the $30 ticketing fee so I made that the key point in the email, but I put all facts in. This was also sent after the 37.5K stuff was removed from my mileage activity so it seems to be the only hangup right now.
Once this all gets worked out, I'll call once again to get the AUS-LAS ticket redeposited.
