I'd say it's well worth paying the extra points to upgrade to a suite.
The Ambassador Suites are both over 1,000 square feet, the Diplomat Suites under 1,000 square feet. The small Presidential Suite is 1,900 square feet, the big one occupies the entire 36th floor (5-6,000 square feet?)

Using points won't put you in these suites. It will land you on the x10 rooms, which are a living room and a separate bedroom, probably 400-500 square feet tops.
