Singapore Airlines is a great airline to fly. Sadly with only 27,000 miles you won't get far or close to riding on SQ. You could fly United and upgrade for 15,000 miles each way assuming you buy a Y/B fare. If you buy a M/H fare it is 30,000 miles each way to upgrade. I believe you could buy 3,000 miles rather not much money. It should be noted that upgrades are based on availability.

Finding SQ award in Business Class from the US is practically non-existent at the moment as it seems SQ has blocked *A award inventory in F/J on both SQ 11/12 and SQ 25/26. The ULH flights via EWR and LAX are off limits since those are operated by the A345 in the business only configuration.
