The agreement(s) with the Partners require the traveler to be a MP member at the time of travel. There are no exceptions to that rule. (you know what I mean)
With AS flights, you can go back 6 months on a new account.
Yes, snagging away someone from a Partner would be great, but then having your books audited by a Partner would not.
