There are tons and tons of low season deals right now around South Beach. I think it's nicer to stay off Ocean Dr. if you can because it's so busy and most of the hotels are set up for European style "apartment style" suites that I've stayed at. For that reason I'd recommend looking at deals on smaller properties either along Collins or even as far west as Alton Rd. For instance The Astor is a smaller boutique deco historic hotel with the bathrooms completely redone, & at the moment they have some rooms going for as low as $125 a night:
