My ticket says I'll be landing at the McNamara terminal on concourse B and leaving for SFO on Concourse A. Is this airport anything like ATL where you never really know where you're going to land/takeoff?

So far, I'm not too happy about this trip. I had to take this flight because of travel rules for my company and this ticket was priced way below what the ATL flight was. I tried to change my seats on Delta but couldn't until I checked in and was redirected to the NW website. Having done that, I'm guessing that if I had gone to the NW site earlier I might have been able to do it sooner?

Also, does anyone know how hard it is to get upgraded on this flight? I have an M fare and I'm Platinum (next year Diamond!!) but that doesn't seem to help on this route.

Thanks
DTW is a fantastic airport.

You will land in B (essentially all the little CJs go there, but a few of the ERJ and possibly C-9s are on A) and there is a walkway to the Large and long A concourse... Do not fret, as there is an overhead tram (every 3-4 minutes) that will whisk you to either end of A. There is a huge WorldClub in the center of the A concourse with entrance just by the entrance to the food court (this is opposite the entrance to B + C concourses), and other WorldClubs at the tram stops at either end, but they are sometimes closed on the weekends.

You will only need maybe 10 minutes max gate to gate, and that would be walking slowly. The airport has very good signs describing which way to go, and whether it is faster to walk or ride. The airport is essentially brand new, I think you will like it... despite your unfortunate initial flight on the CJ. You don't say what your flight # is, hopefully you will have your DL Medallion # in your record, as it is strange that you were not asked if you wanted to be added to the standby upgrade list upon checkin.

Good luck! I hope your opinion of DTW changes with today's experience.
