You're welcome, Sebastian!

What you say about having to carry on really rough roads anyway is certainly true. I thought about that, too, but failed to mention it.

As for the TSA approved bags, I have a bone with those. I have not seen any design that I found convincing. The idea is that it saves you time because you don't have to take the laptop out. The question is: If you don't have to take your machine out, what do you have to do instead? Is that particular process faster and easier? Does it need one hand or two? Does it really save you time in the end? Will the price you pay be a bag that is heavier and pricier but less versatile?

The only advantage there might be is that you don't need another bin. But that is more an advantage for TSA (it's why they are TSA approved) than for you. It usually takes more time to undo the closure and unfold the bag than to simply open a zip and take the laptop out. If the laptop is in a simple protective sleeve you still don't really need a bin. I use either the sleeves that come with my bags or I use a padded PVC envelope. Super light, surprisingly rugged, very understated, customizable, water proof, cheap, easily replaced, minimal bulk! In a word, it's smart!

In order to put the bag together again you need to fold it, lift it, lay it on its side, handle it with two hands so you can re-zip it or fasten the buckles. Not ergonomic or time saving at all.

In a word, it's "unsmart"! Just a marketing ploy, a good one but still easy enough to see through when one thinks about it critically.

In terms of recommendation for a briefcase that would also (perhaps) carry the projector, look at the Briggs Riley BB107. It is currently on sale at luggagepro. Check out the threads on it here. One of it's advantages is that it has backpack strap and a really save attachment to the telescoping handles of a spinner.

Lest I forget, the B107 on a black Silhouette 11 would look killer sharp. Perhaps too good for where you are going. Don't know.
