When I joined #1 Club (the free version), I noticed something peculiar. The CDP Hertz assigns says, "Your rate was discounted by 4 %." When I put the AAA discount in the CDP box, it says, "Your rate was discounted by (typically 10-20%)." But, I later received some e-mails with special offers (PC codes) exclusively for members of the #1 Club loyalty club. The Internet allows using the AAA CDP and the PC code mentioned in the e-mail. So it is possible to have the best of both worlds, albeit with some extra time spent, close attention to detail, and keen critical thinking. But be warned that it is possible when using the Internet reservation system to outsmart the counter computer, as I learned when I arrived at MIA.
