What fare class(es) were the tickets booked in? On your confirmation it will be the letter which appears right after the flight number. (ex. AS507Q) In order to upgrade during online check-in or at the airport kiosk you would need to have purchased a Value or Full Flex fare booked in Y, S, B, M, or H classes. Otherwise you can only upgrade at the gate if first class seats are still available after all elites have been upgraded and paid upgrades have been offered to those with higher fares. The flights you posted are very full so I wouldn't hold out much hope for a paid upgrade.
