I just had a very amusing experience. I am booked Y+ on QF metal to SYD and t-48. I saw a pair of seats available next to a window and thought "ah, if I go for the window then I may get a vacant seat next to me!" Think again!

When I check after moving my seat I find that the seat next to me is full again! I did it several times and saw passengers flying around the cabin but the computer that was controlling things would not let me take a window seat with a vacant seat next to me.

Good on the computer in my view because it is keeping the option of a couple getting seats together - damn!
