That would be outstanding. Having only lived here for 4 years (after moving here from NYC), it really makes this place feel like a small town not having a non-stop to Europe.
On the other hand LAX isn't that far away. A lot closer than a lot of people in the UK are from LHR

How do people recommend getting to SAN now?
My preference is either to connect in LAX or SFO to SAN (e.g. BA/AA or UA), or to fly directly to LAX and drive. As I don't really like driving 125 miles (partly through LA) after a long flight, I will connect to SAN if the price is about the same. Timewise there isn't that much to it - the drive from LAX can be slower if you're hitting the LA rush hour traffic.
