I too can confirm from my own recent experience that status changes mid-trip can get you lounge access without problem. But as earlier posts have pointed out it, it does take a couple of days for the points to get posted and any new boarding passes should then have the correct status. But it does indeed make life easier for everyone to take a friendly approach to explain the situation to the lounge reception staff.
