im pretty sure starwood does it the same way as all other hotel chains and major airlines--the same way that people figured it was done.

you just have to think about it logically: if i reach 25 stays for 2009 on feb 25, according to what is being said in the thread, that would mean i would have status only until feb 2010. Which would suck, but wouldn't be devastating. the problem occurs with getting status for the year 2010. if i have 25 stays by feb 2009, and in march 2009 i stay once, does that automatically extend status to feb 2011? what if i do another 20 stays by dec 2009? at that point, i would have 45 stays 2009 (25 in january and feb, and 20 more spread out throughout the year). if that doesnt extend status until feb 2011, then i automatically lose status in feb 2010. therefore, the ONLYpossible way for me to have platinum status for 2010 would be if i did at least 50 stays in 2009 or once again i did 25 stays in jan and feb of 2010. It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I HIGHLY DOUBT they would do it that way. essentially they are making it twice as difficult for someone to qualify for platinum the year after they did 25 stays in jan and feb.
