"Does the CIBC card cover reward travels on non-Aeroplan tickets?"

The AMEX not covering has been cited on other threads after lengthy discussions.

CIBC explicitly does not cover (see previous post a few back). It is on their terms and conditions that it covers the points from the card deposited into the airline's frequent flyer program:

"The full fare for the delayed flight was charged to the card or was obtained
through the redemption of points from the card travel reward program"
