The tourist visa is good for 5 years. Rio is a fabulous city well worth visiting. If you can find a fabulous fare down there, it is well worth going, even on US. It is an overnight flight so if you can sleep on the plane, the flight is over before you know it. Next job is to find a really cheap fare.
