opushomes, great review. I have had stays at both and the first time was happy with both but really liked our conrad stay a little better. Then my short stay in March at the conrad was bearable but way below my expectations and I would think below corporate's expectation. Atleast on the service side. Their corporate decision to limit the extras to gold and diamonds might be planned. I also think I will pick the Hilton or break with HH all together on future Sin stays.

Just for you to know, I did get early breakfast delivered to the room on time before leaving for the airport at no charge. You could choose from the room service continental. That meant some coffee, roll and a little fruit.

Now as to your choice to skip the Bangkok Conrad. The service was night and day. the BKK conrad stay was much better than my best previous stay at the Sin Con and Hilton and better than the HK Conrad. When we told them we had an early departure for the airport and wanted to find out where to get our bill, the Exec staff asked if we would like breakfast in the room or something to go. I said to go would be great. When we went to the desk at 5am the desk gave me the bill and then said I think this bag is for you. Inside were 2 birthday cake style boxes. The boxes each contained as follows fresh fruit(2), rolls, croissants, jelly(2), butter orange juice, grape juice, water and 3 small/2 large pastries. It actually hurt to carry and was very, very impressive. I agree that BKK is exceptionally cheap and most hotels provide great service so price does come into play, but I think that the service was pretty exceptional and as long as it stays similar I would pay atleast twice over an equivalent hotel before jumping ship. I have stayed at many hotels and really like the service and cleanliness.
