Happened to me this week. Points posted on Saturday. Checked in Sunday for LAX-LHR and boarding pass still said Silver. Arrived Monday afternoon and as I entered the lounge asked them to check my status, which by then was Gold. Was issued a new boarding pass for my next flight and was invited to the First lounge.
