Funny thing happened regarding card upgrade. I get home today, open the mail and there's a letter from Chase indicating they're going to upgrade my Rewards Plus card to Sapphire. At the bottom of the letter is a paragraph indicating that if I wish to opt out of the upgrade to call the number listed.

I call the number and tell the CSR that I wish to keep the Rewards Plus. She asks whether I've read the detail on Sapphire. I respond that I had, however, 5 points on GGD is way better than Sapphire. She sighs, agrees with me, and says she's canceled the upgrade to Sapphire and that the Rewards Plus will stay active. I ask her whether I'll still receive 5 points for GGD and she answers yes. Total time on phone three minutes.

Don't know why Chase bothers sending out these upgrade notices when anyone with half a brain is going to keep either the Rewards Plus or Freedom Plus cards.
