With the frequency of DFW-AUS service, I'm guessing they'll be able to squeeze you on a plane down there tonight. You'll be a priority person for re-accommodation due to the misconnect. (You'll take priority over people who just want to standy, for example).
Since you are travel distruption and EXP you will be at the top of the list. But if you don't get on a later flight (and there is no real other way of getting you to AUS) you may get a runaround on accomodations. Don't know if you are on business and if your employer is willing to pay, but if not, do some "polite" arguing with the GA. Might at least get a food voucher and distressed hotel rate.
