As for yyzgigi, why not just call an AE customer service rep and explain what happened and at least make your case for the two segments versus the one you got, then fax the supporting docs in. This is a limited time promo, so they should understand and since it was a non-voluntary change, you should get the two segment credits if not also the appropriate mileage for both segments.
I spoke to AE and although the agent tried, he confirmed that he cannot help me. As this is credit for AC segments, they said that only AC customer service can award me the points. One of the joys of them being separate companies. AFAIK, there is no way to talk to AC customer service, so my web query is all that I have right now.
I haven't received a reply from CS yet, but I noticed this morning that they've given me 1000 goodwill points for the day of my flight and made no changes to mileage credits -- the direct flight had multiple mechanical delays so I'm hoping the credit is independent and they'll do both... 1000 non-status points is a far cry from the 25500 that I'd actually get with the missing segment.
