yyzgigi, you should be fine. Last year I was scheduled to fly SEA-YVR-YYZ. Due to a snow storm, the SEA-YVR segment was cancelled (and it was the last flight of the day). I took the direct flight to YYZ the next morning. When I wrote to Cust Serv, I got the miles (and segments) for my original route.
