DON'T CALL THEM AT ALL!

Tell them the night before you plan to check-out that you will be leaving the next day. For elite members it will usually be ok, if not they can charge you an early departure fee around $25 or $50 which will usually be worth it.

I recently stayed at the Doubletree Galleria FLL who had a rate of $129/night for two nights. Upon finding that staying an extra two days would give me an $89 rate plus Sunday is Free I booked 4 nights. I checked out after only two days without penalty. If they had chosen to be less accomodating they could have charged me an early departure fee which would still have made it woth my while.
