The non-B6 employees aren't going to help provide service during boarding but they also won't get in the way too much. I don't fly B6 all that often (though I will be next month

No, you won't get to pre-board (though supposedly that benefit is coming for EML seats at some point) but it really isn't that big a deal. I've not had trouble finding space in the overhead for my bag, even on the E90 where they are somewhat smaller, on any of my flights with B6.
Give them a try. You're risk level is pretty low and you might actually find that you enjoy it. You get the same E+ pitch as long as you are on the A320 (34") without worrying about it and you might find that you like them. Worst case, you go back UA and you didn't really waste anything, especially not money.
