I've stayed here myself when visiting NEC events, oddly enough - it was always easier to walk from the HIX to New Street station and do the short train hop to the NEC than mess around with shuttle buses from the hotels nearer the site, especially as I would be coming up from London the night before and could hop off at New Street.

Agreed that it is a good, modern HIX, very much as you'd expect if you've stayed in a UK one before.
