Rates have actually fallen in San Juan. If you negotiate, most hotels have corporate rates of around $150. For example, Condado Plaza is now a Conrad property and their corporate rates is around $160. If one must stay at Hilton properties, I would choose that over the Caribe.
I personally now only do Marriott properties when in San Juan. The La Concha is the nicest of the group. The FS Marriott is also very nice, but they do not negotiate corporate rates for any reasonable number of nights. I had several horrible experiences with Hilton properties in San Juan and do not consider them anymore.
