but here is my experience:

i didnt intend this thread to be a "should i get HH benefits on a PL stay" ... this is a "what HH benefits i got on a PL stay".

so this is what i got:

i bid'd $35 for 3* LAX and got hilton LAX. the hotel was perhaps the best hilton i've stayed in north america. so the bottomline ...

what i got:

- upg to the towers floor, although it wasn't a very desirable room as it faced the runway -- i could hear every takeoff, and LAX has a pretty late curfew.

- free breakfast in the lounge for myself and my companion.

when i called the hotel, i was told i will be getting my diamond benefits. i had the impression that they only wanted to try for par, not a birdie.

what i didnt get:

- no amenities (water, wine, fruits, etc)
