For anyone else contemplating a "double open jaw", it appears these are acceptable for ticketing, at least using LH405 JFK-FRA outbound and then returning (without intermediary LH flight) from MUC or DUS to a US or Canadian LH gateway city. In my case, I am returning MUC-ORD.
