I also checked out today, after a couple of two night stays, with the Royal Orchid Sheraton sandwiched in between.
I second Schley's enthusiasm; while I had no negative issues, I was really impressed, after being told at check-in that no suites were available on our first day of two (that jibed with the info on spg.com), with a phone call just after reaching our room telling us that a suite could be had at 4pm that day. The suites are really large and are a very nice upgrade.
The Royal Orchid in comparison was quite a disappointment; no suites available "due to the renovations", a lounge that feels to us much less cozy than the old one, although a bartender making cocktails is both a plus and a minus...the wait for a refill can be long, and the strength of the drinks seems dubious, but the choice is greater; finally, an executive floor room is quite small.
As a result of these stays I've just moved the bulk of my Bangkok reservations this year to the PA, at the expense of the ROS.
