Here is what you do, call back and ask for the supervisor, and explain what happened.
Do not stop at:'there is nothing to be done' or 'we could lodge a request but it's most likely won't work out'
Just persist and you shall get your upgrade.

Agree with the above, I assume all calls are now recorded "for training purpose's", insist they play the tape back, if you get no luck with the supervisor ask to be put through to their boss.
