Whoops... sorry about that. The hotel itself had tons to do. It's really a 4-star hotel with a lot of restaurants/bars/activities available. Our room was nice, but nothing special... I was hoping for the option to upgrade to a gold room (or maybe some kind of suite) at check-in, but they were full, and we couldn't even get into our room until 4pm.
We went all over the island, and the beach at the Fairmont Southampton is the best we saw. It's either a 10-minute walk down the hill or a free shuttle ride, which is easy. The pool is awful... we had lunch down there while we were waiting for our room, and vowed never to go back. It's tiny, there's no breeze, and it's swarming with kids. We might be biased, since I'm 31, my girlfriend's 25, and the whole family vacation wasn't what we were planning for... but I still can't understand why anyone would choose the pool, when there's a beach with pink sand and crystal blue water in the low 80s.
Anyway, I liked the hotel... can't give it any glowing recommendations, but we were happy. The wine cellar bar downstairs was a fun, if somewhat cheesy disco/club... lots of dancing, very young, and busy every night.
I did get over to Tucker's point to check out that resort, and it would win hands down as far as luxury hotels go-- when we were looking, they only had suites available, and they were asking $1400/night, which seemed a little crazy, sight unseen. I did golf at the Mid Ocean Club, though, and it was absolutely awesome.
Oh... last thing... if you're thinking of staying at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess, and you are in Bermuda for anything but business, change your plans. There's no beach, it takes forever to get to a nice one, and you're right in the middle of a town filled with banks. There might be a few good bars/restaurants nearby, but I can't imagine heading there for a tropical vacation.
Hope this helps,
