Gosh, so much good advice has already been given. I don't what to say. Oh yeah, I do need to tell ya - I would not leave my bags in a taxi and wander off to see the Red Fort or for that matter go for a quick meal. I just don't think it is a good idea to give anyone a chance, be it a taxi driver or anyone else, to make off with your luggage when you are sightseeing or eating. A hotel migth be the best place to leave your bags. I believe a taxi can be booked from the government run booth after you exit the customs and before you exit the building. Negotiated price for a whole day upto X number of miles would save you any unpleasant experience at the end of the day. Like somebody else wrote above, I would not want to be at the receiving end of someone's game of sqeezing the last penny from a tourist (foreign or Indian). People are friendly and eager to help you with directions etc. ( in some case even if they don't know

). Kutab Minar, Red Fort, Birla Temple, Bahaii Temple (also called Lotus Temple), Gandhi Ghat (place where Gandhi was creamated and has been developed into a part like setting) are some of the things you could see. Any search engine would give you brief descriptions of these places and then you could pick and choose depending on what your personal preferences are. Good Luck and enjoy!
