Ding, Ding, Ding! We have a winner! Having grown up flying 707s TATL, a glorious experience in the early 70's, I guess we've (really the airlines) lost sight of the fact that a 757 is essentially identical to a 707--just two engines and a FE less. The 757 is now being 'refitted' to perform a job that was the primary reason for the 707's being replaced by the 747--comfort, while still sacrificing the requisite galley and lav space to squeeze in the max number of seats.

In this day of electronic Lie-flat beds, PTV, AVOD, marinated cheese antipasto and multi-course meals at a price tag of $5000-$8000 for J travel; the airlines are asking premium passengers to pay for Mercedes options while stuffed into a Kia. As much as folks prefer a widebody experience, its not a necessity, i.e. Hawaii; yet for competitive pricing reasons, let's hope that this 75L experiment works and doesn't drive away premium traffic. If all 757 TATL operators were forced to price their product down to its perceived worth of 707 travel there would be no more 757 TATL service.
