Before I even started to read what the OP had posted, I knew that this was somehow related to China...
Don't get me wrong here, and I'm not trying to look down on or point fingers at anybody. But ask people who have lived here (or stayed here for a longer time) and they will tell you that this is a very common problem.
It's all about "me, me, me, me" (almost like Smith in the Matrix

). The same thing happens on buses, anywhere there is a cue system involved, the metro, the trains... etc etc. Try crossing a street where there is a traffic light operating.
These are just the facts, and unfortunately there is nothing one can do about it. Sure, you can always try and "educate" the so called offenders, but they will probably just stare at you and wonder what's wrong with you - "don't you want to get off the plain as well?"
