Sorry, catandmouse, it looks as though you're in a minority of one.

Here's another who was almost scammed at ZRH duty free. My wife paid, I suggested she return and the transaction was cancelled and reapplied in CHF. Of course, the CHF transaction cost less than the cancelled DCC GBP transaction.

RichardInSF: this is not the convenience fee you mention, which is a charge applied by your bank. DCC is something else, quite odious and IMO designed to trap unwary customers into paying more than they need to pay. Invariably, the retail outlet pockets the surplus.

Nationwide in the UK has campaigned against this vile process, warning their credit card and debit cardholders to beware.

If mods read this thread, could they please edit the title to reflect the international nature of the scam?
