Tokyo is nice but expensive...$300Cdn if you aren't using points..
Reasonably-priced restaurants (if you don't want to venture far) can be found across the street at the top of the Sumitomo Building...
"Shirakiya" is a good izakaya with cold beer and a picture menu. There is one on the way to Shinjuku station - about 10 minutes' walk from the Hilton.
Upgrade is 100% on 6 stays this year.
Kyoto cannot be realistically done in a day - it is 2.5 hours from Tokyo.
Nagoya Hilton is cheap and only 30 minutes by train from Kyoto.
I would suggest (if staying in Tokyo): Kamakura, Fish Market, Nikko, and an onsen (hotspring) overnighter...
Safe travels!
