Good point indeed! I do take it, however, that the OP will benefit from knowing possible ways in which he could take his daughter all the way to the gate. But he will NOT benefit by being humiliated for making the choice of doing so.
Charity requires us to be abundantly helpful (to reasonable requests) when we can AND not most hurtful as some have so sadly demonstrated.
