Rudder de-laminations have happened since the late 80's, so I don't think that'd be a problem.

The answer (if anyone is wondering) is 2007, with the possibility to 2014.
I do have a feeling that if BA got AB flying again, allowing for the old flight times, combined with the better market in following months, they could have been comfortable up until now.

I'm sure even the emergence of Dubai would have possibly led to a route there, flying supersonically over the Med. Maybe... but then again, maybe not...
