KVS has provided the correct details, but may I just add a few hints, which might be of some use if you haven't transited BKK before?

  • You will be required to disembark from the aircraft in BKK, taking all your belongings with you, even though you will later re-board the same aircraft for your onward flight to SYD.

  • The flight crew and cabin crew will both change in BKK.

  • You don't have to clear Customs, Immigration or re-check baggage, you stay airside until re-boarding.

  • When you disembark, please remember your gate number, you will need to return to it in due course!

  • When you re-board the aircraft, you will do so from a departure gate which is on the same floor as when you disembarked, however, in order to return to the departure gate, you must do so one floor higher than when you left the aircraft.

  • There is no access to the departure gate from the arrivals level, nor are there any stairs up to the departure level anywhere near the departure gates.

  • To get up to the departure level, you must walk towards the centre of the terminal, go UP one level at the stairs or elevator near the centre of the terminal, and then walk all the way back towards the departure gate.

  • At the top of the stairs down to your departure gate you will go through a (brief) security search and then descend down the stairs into the (secure) departure gate where you await re-boarding. There are restrooms at each departure gate.

  • There are no departure announcements in the airport terminal in BKK, so please do remember to keep an eye on the time and make sure you get back to your departure gate in sufficient time.

I hope this may be of some use, it isn't actually as difficult as it might sound.

Enjoy your trip - it's my favourite route - but as your trip is in September, sadly I won't have the pleasure of flying you!

Best Regards
