Upgrade reversed after seated
This is one I did not expect! Last night I was on 310 from IAH to EWR. There were 3 open F/C seats, and I was 3rd on the list. I saw my upgrade had cleared about 45 mins before departure, so i got my new BP (seat 1B)from the PC agent. I was a happy camper!
As I sipped on my pre-departure cocktail, a woman came up and said I was in the wrong seat- she had a BP that also had 1B.
The FAcalled the gate agent and said she would let me know. After a few minutes, she came back with a new BP for me...16D!!!
Apparently some agent had allowed this other person to purchase this seat AFTER my upgrade had cleared- thereby bumping me unceremoniously to the back.
The FAs to their credit were very accomodating, and tried to help as much as they could- free drinks etc. The issue was not their fault, and I appreciate their efforts to make up for the switcheroo. They all suggested I contact CO for some kind of compensation, which I plan to do.
Just wondering if anyone had ever heard of this happening before? How could the system allow that to happen to someone who (as a Plat) is supposed to be one of CO's best customers?
Thanks for any tips!
