Good value for BA but pity that these tariffs come with such onerous rules.
By contrast if you check J class prices with KLM via AMS (klm.com) you will find that not only are the prices likely to be less but KLM does not impose advance booking or minimum stay restrictions. Also if you decide not to travel then you get almost all your money back.
Choosing KLM means a longer flight time from London but not if you board at a UK regional airport.
Granted KLM's J product isn't as good but this example gives you an idea of the sort of price competition which BA now faces.
